Pueblo of Laguna receives funding for Arcadian designed fiber to the home network
St. Louis, MO, September 11, 2023 – Arcadian Infracom a leading digital infrastructure development company headquartered in St. Louis, MO, is pleased to announce that the Pueblo of Laguna, an Arcadian network development partner, has received a Fiber-To-The-Premise (FTTP) award under the Connect New Mexico Pilot Program. The award will allow the Pueblo to bring broadband and high-speed internet to the Pueblo of Laguna people and community. The state-of-the art fiber network will span 193 miles and provide broadband service to all six Pueblo villages.
In keeping with its commitment to help bring broadband to underserved rural and tribal communities, Arcadian assisted the Pueblo in the development of its winning grant proposal and provided network design and consulting services at no cost. Arcadian will continue to provide the Pueblo any assistance requested throughout the project’s construction phase.
Arcadian’s CEO, Dan Davis, added: “We’re extremely pleased to have been able to support the Pueblo of Laguna in their successful FTTP initiative. Our relationship with the Pueblo began almost three years ago, and over that time we’ve worked closely with several Laguna administrations. Pueblo of Laguna Governor Wilfred Herrera, Jr., Laguna Economic Advancement, LLC CEO Jim Hooper, Jr., and K’awaika Hanu Internet Business Manager Kamrin Aragon deserve special credit for their vision and leadership on this project. As we design and develop our long-haul routes, we’re very conscious of our responsibility to help bring affordable bandwidth to underserved communities along the way. This is a great example of what can be accomplished when long-haul and local network providers work together.”
Governor Herrera commented: “The Pueblo of Laguna is appreciative of the support and assistance it has received from Arcadian. The collaboration between Arcadian and the Pueblo of Laguna Broadband Team on this project has proven to be successful. The collective efforts have resulted in a successful application and now a funding award. I wish to thank all those involved, the Broadband Team, Arcadian, and the Pueblo of Laguna Council who authorized this application and further provided the cash matching requirements for the grant that will allow us to complete the design and construction of the FTTP network.”
